Heart and Soul of Pilates

Harmony’s passion for movement has been present her entire life. In childhood, Harmony was a competitive gymnast who’s love and passion for the sport resulted in numerous accomplishments and accolades. She learned early that attention to detail and tuning into her body was both mentally and physically challenging, as well as rewarding.

An ACL rupture mid floor routine ended her gymnastics career but she would argue it was blessing in the end. It led her to pursue an education in health and wellness. She graduated in 2003 from UCSB with Majors in Communications, Exercise and Health Science, and Minors in Personal Training and Group Fitness. Quickly she realized there was something missing. Plagued with discomfort in her back and hips from the patterns gymnastics left behind, she discovered that putting what she had learned into practice was not enough.

After graduation, Harmony was fortunate to have ended up at health and fitness spa resort in Tecate, Mexico, called Rancho La Puerta.  As soon as she discovered Pilates, the lightbulb went on. The impact Pilates had on her body and mind was swift, intense and life altering.

She became a BASI certified instructor and taught for about 4-5 years before a pause became necessary. The next thing she knew, she was married with 3 children and 14 years had gone by! The passion for Pilates never dissipated. In 2023 she finally audited the BASI courses once again and flame was lit!

Harmony is so happy to be teaching again and helping others discover what their bodies are capable of. Contributing to the deep mind-body connection pilates can bring to ones table is so gratifying. Harmony’s favorite part is the joy of witnessing someones “ah-ha” moment! Not only does Pilates help one look strong and feel strong, the impact on mental and emotional health is priceless. Harmony knows the journey can be long and hard, but feels so blessed to be a part of it.
